Why Cleansing Oil?

When cleansing oil first started gaining popularity, a question we often heard was, "why would I add oil to my face when it naturally produces oil already?" We get it. It doesn't seem to make sense. Add oil to get rid of oil? Hear us out.

There's no denying that every good skincare routine starts with clean skin. No matter your skin type, washing your face to remove the dirt, oil, and impurities you've accumulated throughout the day is essential to your skin's health. Cleaning your face before bed is even more important if you wear makeup. Now, say it with me; "I promise I will not wear makeup to bed."

Good! Now, back to cleansing oil.

After a long day, the last thing we want to do sometimes is a full, five-step skincare routine. While important, it's just not always realistic. This is where cleansing oil comes to the rescue!

What is Cleansing Oil?

Cleansing oil, like our Cleanse My Face, is a natural, plant-based alternative to soap. Unlike soap, however, your skin isn't left feeling tight and dry. Cleansing oil gently and effectively cleanses without stripping or drying your delicate facial tissue. Cleansing oils contain a combination of oils that work together to adhere to the bad oils, so when the good oil is washed off, it takes the bad oils with it.

According to Bryan Barron, "Oils are a special type of solvent because they’re lipophilic, meaning they’re naturally attracted to other oils, including the sebum our skin produces and the oil-like ingredients in makeup. This is what allows the oils in a cleansing oil to quickly dissolve makeup and excess oil while softening skin at the same time."

Okay, but what's in it?

Our carefully curated mixture of castor oil, seed oil, extra virgin oil, infused comfrey oil, and vitamin E oil all work together to cleanse and hydrate. Now add in the natural benefits of tea tree, lemon, sage, and raw rose quartz chips, and you've got yourself a bit of magic in a bottle.

"A lot of oil-free cleansers strip our skin of natural oils, leaving it unbalanced and causing it to produce more oil to rebalance it. Excess production equals more problematic skin. Oil cleansers keep the skin's natural pH balance, and prevents it from having a production overload. Plus, essential oils are naturally antibacterial." - Kayla Causey, easthetician

How Do You Use Cleansing Oil?

Our Cleanse My Face is a triple threat. It will simultaneously remove makeup, cleanse your skin, and hydrate your complexion. Most cleansing oils vary in how they should be used, but here are the details on ours. It's pretty simple!

  1. Apply a warm, damp cloth to the face for 20 to 30 seconds

  2. Massage 1 to 2 full droppers onto fingertips, lightly rub together, and massage into face and neck

  3. Leave on 30 seconds, then gently wipe off excess with a warm facial cloth

  4. Rinse with cool water

Cleanse My Face may be just what your skincare routine has been missing. Head over to UnbelievableSkincare.com to check it out or ask us any questions about cleansing oils and how they can work for your skin type.
